From the moment we met with Adrian and discussed how we wanted our wedding photos to look and feel, my wife and I were confident he understood us and could deliver a great service. Whilst reviewing examples of his work Adrian displayed understated confidence and an obvious enjoyment and passion for photography and composition. The initial practice photo shoot allowed us to become accustomed to the camera in a public environment and to get to know Adrian as he went about his work. Although initially nervous of the public attention, by the end of the shoot the camera seemed to disappear and everything became more natural. This made the wedding day more enjoyable as Adrian became more a part of the wedding party than ‘the photographer’ and made the photographs much more relaxed allowing more emotion to be picked up by the camera lens. Throughout the wedding day Adrian was well organised and blended in seamlessly with the guests; a selection of more formal family shots were handled with ease with simple and clear instructions ensuring time was not wasted searching for guests and photo arrangements were quickly established. Further photographs involving the my wife and I were taken from various vantage points around our location and created excellent images which now adorn our home. Adrian stayed with us into the evening capturing the event from many perspectives, a slight delay to the first dance and subsequent extension to his initial completion time was met with no issue from Adrian who rounded the day off with great shots of the entire wedding party on the dance floor. In summary, my wife and I are extremely happy with the photographs Adrian captured on our wedding day, he fully understood what we required and went about his work in a professional and understated manner. We were blessed with great weather and fantastic family & friends who provided plenty of moments which were expertly caught on camera by Adrian Pillinger, we would recommend him without question.

As usual it has been a while since my last blog post due to the amount of wedding work that has been going on lately. Anyway, whenever I shoot a wedding at a wonderful location I love to write a short review from a photographer’s perspective to help future brides.

Back in September I shot a gorgeous wedding for Laura and Nick held at Stanton Manor, near Chippenham Wiltshire. Stanton Manor is one of those hotels hidden away from the main towns and roads, but is a treat to find once you stumble across it. As you enter the drive and approach the hotel you are greeted with an entrance full of character, decorated with flowers in hanging baskets, presenting itself as the perfect Bride and Groom + wedding car photo opportunity.

The hotel is an ideal wedding venue and has many beautiful locations serving as backdrops to photos and adding that extra touch of class to your perfect day.

From a wedding point of view one of the main features the hotel has to offer is its large and extremely beautiful grounds, providing the perfect place for guests to mingle and enjoy canapes/reception drinks, especially on a summers day.

The size and character of the garden allows the Bride and Groom to have some stunning portraits taken whilst being secluded away from too many on-looking guests. This always helps to relax the couple and produce very natural images they will treasure forever. Around the garden a multitude of alluring locations can be found, each lending themselves to a different style of image. For example the Bride and Groom walking romantically into the distance along a tree-lined path, intimate portraits, and fun shots of the Bride and Groom.

The hotel itself is also a very nice looking building and a lovely place to host your wedding breakfast. Inside, the hotel has a lot of character and makes the day feel very special. The staff are all very helpful and I could not fault the service I witnessed whilst photographing Nick and Laura’s wedding.

The house DJ also did a stunning job of getting everyone up and dancing, which in my experience can be be quite a feat to achieve so early in the evening!

Anyway, enough rambling, here are some photos showing the hotel and its gorgeous grounds.

From a wedding photographer’s perspective this venue is absolutely stunning and suits smaller but very stylish weddings perfectly.

The ceremony is held in a conservatory/orangery that lets natural light flood in and is excellent for the photographs, and if the weather is nice the Bride can enter the room from the beautiful gardens.

The hotel features several reception rooms, all of which are elegant and full of character which make an ideal backdrop to the photographs and give a lot of space for friends and family to relax in the evening.

Out in the gardens, after the ceremony you are served drinks and canapés on a well tended lawn surrounded by shrubs and a pond in the middle neatly bordered by a bed of flowers. Further around the side of the hotel there is a large grassed area where the children can play games in the afternoon sun. Again these surroundings are perfect backdrops to photographs of the guests enjoying themselves.

Inside the wedding breakfast was served up to beautifully decorated tables primarily due to the detail Adam and Kelly put into their day, but also a lot of credit to the hotel staff’s attention to detail.

Throughout the day the way the staff and the local wedding registrar’s conducted themselves was faultless and they certainly made every effort to keep everyone happy and the day running smoothly.

I managed to find a myriad of locations for the wedding photos and I very much enjoyed photographing Adam and Kelly’s wedding at this venue. Hopefully I will have the opportunity to photograph another wedding at this venue in the near future.
