Location scouting

November 15th, 2008

I spent this morning scouting out locations for some upcoming portrait shoots I have booked. I have some great ideas including Castle Coombe and Bidestone. I snapped a few odd pics along the way so here is a quick sample….

Autumn Portraits

October 25th, 2008

Yesterday Jo and I made a trip to Westonbirt Arboretum to shoot some autumn portraits of each other for fun, and give Jo a chance to practice some of her photography skills she’s been learning. She shot some amazing photos and controlled the camera the majority of the time, however I still got a few great shots of her along the way. Check a couple of them out below.

We found an amazing spot under a tree covered in orange leaves for Jo to shoot a few photos of me - I really love this one she captured.

Wedding October 18th 2008

October 21st, 2008

On the 18th October I shot a wedding with a fantastic wedding photographer Hannah Timm. Here is a small selection of my shots from the day. Can you spot the bride and groom in the venue shot?!

Every wedding needs a car shot

October 10th, 2008

I love to shoot the details of a wedding day so not only the emotion is remembered, but all the effort and planning that has gone in to the detail of the day. Almost every wedding will have a fancy car to bring the bride to the ceremony - so for me a great car detail shot is obligatory. Here are a few examples.

I love it when you capture a “moment”

October 7th, 2008

I love capturing moments and that is what photojournalistic photography is all about, seeing events unfold and capturing them to document a story. This style also overlaps into my portrait work and I love getting couples to relax and be themselves - this is the easiest time to capture really natural shots and capture great moments, some intimate and affectionate, others just pure fun. In these next shots of Natalie and Gus at Cockington, near Torquay I captured Gus messing around and they make for a great sequence! Hope you find them as fun as I do.

Family party time

October 2nd, 2008

Last weekend was busy, but great fun. Saturday we met up with some great friends Joel and Charlie to take some shots at Corsham’s Extreme Sport event and also had a fun mini photo shoot to give Charlie some time practicing with the camera. Her battery died so she borrowed mine to shoot some pics of me and Jo. I also managed to get a cracking shot of Jo in the gorgeous light pictured below.

It was also Jo’s Nan’s birthday so there was a family gathering around at the Shrubsole’s to celebrate. It was a fantastic day and a great opportunity to snap away at our nephews. As you can see they had great fun fighting over the frisbee.

Steve and Danielle’s Wedding

September 26th, 2008

Last Saturday good friends of ours got married. We had an excellent time at the wedding and I thoroughly enjoyed shooting photos and capturing all the emotion of the day. Although they had an official photographer they asked if I would officially - unofficially take candid reportage/photojournalistic shots of the days events. It was a great pleasure to also be the main photographer for the cake shot. I hope you enjoy looking at the odd few pics I have posted here.
